This is why I’ve been swimming upstream and running my life through a paid business account on Google services for a few years.

Two main advantages as I see it:

1. They don’t run ads against Gmail content. ( I believe this also applies more broadly but I am assuming much more than I know.)

2. I feel morally justified running my Pi-hole against Google owned ad services. (I get this moral salve for other value providers by buying merch, Patreon, YouTube Red/premium/PlayMusic and generally being friendly to algorithmic engagement (ref. Most “content” on This Blog)

There are drawbacks, particularly engagment with Google Assistant, but most of those have been accumulating more recently, hence moves towards self-hosting much more of my photos and other media.

I’m still not quite ready to run my own public facing mail server so it’s still a transition.
